The stage is set. The clock has been slowly ticking down. There is no looking back. Like every kid racing down their neighbourhood street with an ear to ear grin on a “hand me down” bike, Bicycle Month artfully rolls out for another June celebration of two wheels.
We know you too are ready to roll. You’ve been to Almonte Bicycle Works and your bike is tuned or perhaps you’re itching to get out on a new one. So here’s a simple guide to Mississippi Mills Bicycle Month. There are only three things to remember:
1) Start by registering for the Silver Chain Challenge at www.silverchainchallenge.ca. You can log your kilometres for the month for your community there. (Tell your friends that this is a friendly “Active Transportation” challenge between the communities in Lanark as well as Lanark vs Renfrew Counties and you can record not just cycling kilometres but running and walking kilometres as well). Go Lanark in 2017!
2) Visit www.mmbm.ca for a complete list of events. There are fun events for all ages over 30 days in June. We truly believe that there is something for each cyclist in the area: family rides, seniors rides, a bird watching tour, Sunday brunch tours, a microbrewery tour, yoga for cyclists, a street party and more.
3) And last, but most important… ride like a kid and smile!
And that’s only the beginning… check the full listing of Bike Month events.
